Boiler Hydraulic Test
in Bangladesh
Bangladesh's trusted hydrostatic pressure testing service for industrial steam boilers. Conducted by certified engineers and approved by the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers, Government of Bangladesh.
What Is a Boiler
Hydraulic Test?
A boiler hydraulic test — also called a hydrostatic pressure test — is a mandatory safety procedure where a boiler is completely filled with water and pressurised to 1.5 times its Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP). The elevated pressure is held for a specified duration while our engineers inspect every weld, joint, tube, and fitting for leaks or deformation.
This test is the most reliable non-destructive method to verify the structural integrity of a pressure vessel before it returns to service. In Bangladesh, it is a legal requirement under the Bangladesh Boiler Act and the BBR (Bangladesh Boiler Regulation) Code, enforced by the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers.
At Alif Boiler Company Ltd., our hydraulic tests are performed by trained, government-recognised engineers using calibrated pressure gauges and pump equipment — delivering a fully documented certificate accepted by all inspection authorities.
Why Hydraulic Testing
Is Critical
Prevents Catastrophic Failure
Undetected cracks, weak welds, or corroded tubes in a boiler operating at high pressure can lead to devastating explosions. Hydraulic testing identifies these weaknesses before they become fatal.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance
The Bangladesh Boiler Act mandates hydraulic testing for all registered boilers. Without a valid test certificate, boiler operation is illegal and factory licenses can be revoked.
Extends Boiler Lifespan
Regular hydraulic testing, combined with Alif Boiler's inspection report, helps factory managers schedule proactive maintenance — significantly extending the operational life of their equipment.
Insurance & Liability Protection
Insurance companies in Bangladesh require valid hydraulic test certificates. Without one, your industrial plant is uninsured and directors may face personal liability in the event of an accident.
Protects Your Workforce
Over 300 workers are employed in the average Dhaka garment or textile factory. Certified boiler safety directly protects the lives of your operators and production staff every single day.
Maximises Efficiency
A structurally sound, leak-free boiler operates at peak thermal efficiency. Hydraulic testing eliminates hidden pressure drops caused by micro-leaks, reducing fuel consumption and energy cost.
Our Hydraulic Testing Process
Site Inspection & Preparation
Our engineer assesses the boiler, isolates it from the steam line, vents all air from the system, and installs calibrated test gauges.
Water Filling
The boiler shell, drums, tubes, and headers are completely filled with clean water, ensuring zero air pockets that could affect pressure readings.
Pressure Build-Up to 1.5× MAWP
A hydraulic hand pump or power pump raises pressure gradually to 1.5 times the boiler's rated MAWP. This critical step is controlled and monitored continuously.
Hold & Visual Inspection
Test pressure is held for a minimum of 30 minutes. Engineers inspect all seams, welds, nozzles, manholes, and fittings for any sign of leakage or distortion.
Certification & Report
A full written test report and official certificate are issued, valid for Govt. inspection authority submission and your factory compliance records.
Hydraulic Testing in Action
Mandatory Legal
Requirement in Bangladesh
Bangladesh has strict boiler safety legislation. The Bangladesh Boiler Act and BBR Code require all registered boilers to pass a hydraulic (hydrostatic) test before initial use and at regular intervals during their operational life.
- New Boilers: Hydraulic test required before first commissioning, overseen by a government inspector.
- Annual Renewal: Operating boilers must pass a periodic hydraulic test to renew their Boiler Certificate each year.
- After Major Repair: Any repair to pressure-bearing components (drums, tubes, headers) must be followed by a fresh hydraulic test.
- After Long Idle Period: Boilers idle for 12+ months require a test before being recommissioned by law.
- Penalty for Non-compliance: Operating an uninspected boiler carries heavy fines, factory closure orders, and criminal liability for management.
Alif Boiler Company Ltd. holds an official Boiler & Pressure Vessel Manufacturing and Service License approved by the Inspection Authority of the Office of the Chief Inspector of Boilers, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
Our hydraulic test certificates are recognised and accepted at all government inspection offices across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Chittagong, Narayanganj, Gazipur, and all other districts.
